We’ve all see the “typical” Halloween witch…green skin, crooked nose, hunched over.  Ever know how it came to be?

During The Burning Times, women suspected of witchcraft were locked up and beaten to confess.  Their skin bruised (you’ve seen a healing bruise turn green), their noses got broken and they were whipped on the back until they hunched over.  Their hair became unkempt and stringy from stress; their voices hoarse from crying out in pain.  When they shuffled out for execution, this is what the public saw, and thus, this is how they became known.  And this is why I try to depict witches in a positive, beautiful light
